Trauma Therapy to help people cross the threshold into lives defined by creativity, connection, and possibility.
We utilize specialized trauma methods of EMDR and IFS, and creative arts therapy like drama and play therapy.
Because community and relationships are often most-impacted by trauma, we also specialize in group therapy and community gatherings.
Trauma-focused therapy care to help with deep understanding
The challenge for people impacted by traumatic events is that many therapists are not trained in trauma-focused care, which is different than trauma-informed care. I’m trained in trauma-focused care and treatments methods and can offer specialized support to help people who are experiencing traumatic stress to help them understand themselves, their symptoms, and how this impacts treatment.

Part of what makes Threshold unique is our focus on creativity and connection. Creative methods are used whenever possible, and community offerings such as group therapy and storytelling nights are core to our identity as the building of caring and genuine relationships is a powerful antidote to traumatic stress.
Meet Katrina, your Therapist
When we experience life-changing events, we can feel frozen in state of loss, distress, and isolation; similar to Persephone in the underworld. It can feel like an unending season of fall or winter.
At Threshold, we don’t work on erasing the past, or pretend that things that happened didn’t happen, but to help you be able to move again between the different emotional seasons within you. We honor the experiences of fall and winter, and also find ways to make more space to experience the summer and spring again. What’s done is done, and what has happened cannot unhappen; but, what is in your control is to change is your relationship to what happened.
Sometimes death is a girl in a night slip,
cheeks tinted pink from fever.
Or a soldier calling out for his mother
nearing the end in the battlefield.
Hades used to think death was unforgiving and cold
each time he heard mortals cry out as they mourned.
But when Hades wathces Persephone kiss their foreheads
as their lips part on their last breath,
he thinks death has never looked so warm.
