Therapy for Dissociative Identity
Specialized trauma-focused therapy for individuals with dissociative identity who are looking for validating, inclusive, and respectful care
Dissociative Identity is an experience that emerges as an adaptive protective mechanism from immense trauma and unresolved fear, and requires a specialized trauma treatment approach.
Dissociative identity has been widely misunderstood in the media and social discourse, and often goes undiagnosed, unrecognized, and underreported. Yet there are millions of people who are living with dissociative identity and deserve speciality therapeutic care.
You deserve to be understood, cared for, and supported in the fullness of your multiplicity.
The Threshold approach is trauma-focused, with specific skills and training to work through the nuances of working with the psychological effects of trauma, including dissociative identity.
Therapy with Threshold Is:
Focused on helping you have more ability and capacity for internal communication of your parts to support daily stabilization.
Client-centered. Every system is unique, and I honor your unique cosmology of parts. I see my role as helping to support you in having more internal compassion within your own system of parts.
Multi-modal. I bring in various approaches to parts work including Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST), EMDR, psychodrama, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). In session we may use a variety of techniques including conversing with parts using imagery or objects, as well as meditation and guided imagery.
Focused on today. My approach is not focused on re-visiting the original traumatic events in depth. While I do want to get a broad sense of what has happened in the past as dissociative identity emerges as a protective adaptation to immense traumatic harm and unresolved fear, our sessions will be focused on helping you communicate more easefully and confidently with your parts in the present-day.
Threshold Provides a Tailored and Understanding Approach to Therapy for Dissociative Systems
Working with a therapist who has direct experience treating clients with dissociative identity, and understands the intricacies of how the therapy alliance, and approach needs to be tailored can help clients build stronger internal communication, and experience more grounded, connected experiences in day-to-day life.
Therapy with Threshold can recognize and hold the full weight of what happened to you without doing detailed trauma inquiry.

The Connection to Persephone
You are multiple, and every part of you belongs.
Once Persephone eats the pomegranate seeds, her existence splits between the world of the living and the world of the dead. In the myth, she exists in duality- navigating her life between these two parts. It is actually her ability to live between two parts that allows her choice. You might even say that Persephone is a Greek Myth example of “functional multiplicity.” Our work with dissociative identity follows a similar principle; not merging you into one, not treating you as a problem to be solved, but helping every part find safety in functional multiplicity.
