Frequently Asked Questions

Billing

What are your rates?

My rates are $200 an hour.

Do you accept insurance?

No, I don’t accept insurance. All of my services are self-pay.

What are the benefits of paying out of pocket for therapy?

The benefits of paying out of pocket for therapy are that your health insurance carrier will not have access to your therapy records.

This means that your confidentiality is protected. It also means that we have more control about what therapy looks like. For example, insurance companies often dictate the number of sessions, and with a self-pay structure that is our collaborative decision. We would decide together the length, modalities used and frequency of therapy.

Can you help with out of network benefits or provide a superbill?

Yes, I can provide a superbill for all clinical services. You can submit this to your insurance company for reimbursement, however, reimbursement is not guaranteed. I do partner with Mentaya, which can help speed up the process of submitting Superbills for clients. Diagnosis and some treatment information will have to be given in this scenario. Please contact your insurance provider and explore their out-of-network benefits.

What should I expect during my free consultation?

During your free consultation, this is a 10-15 minute call where you can tell me about what you are looking for, and I will tell you about what I can offer. If we mutually feel there is a match of need and what I offer, we will move ahead to scheduling, and setting up your record in my EHR.

What should I expect in the intake?

In the intake, I want to hear about what brings you to therapy now, and understand a bit about your history, what your current life is like, and what you hope to change in future through the commitment of therapy.

We will also need to go through some basic information about you like your medical history and medications. I will also acquaint you with the norms and policies of Threshold Center for Trauma and Creative Arts Therapy.
